Billie Myers, best known for her hit single "Kiss The Rain," which was on Billboard's Top 100 for over six months in 2000, is back with a new album "Just Sex." Known for her self-reflective lyrics and unabashed honesty, she has toured with Bob Dylan and was part of the all-female music festival, Lilith Fair.

Riffin': How has your sound evolved with your new album?

Billie Myers: When I was creating this album I was more conscious of the different trends in music today. For example, I mix rock with some electronic elements, creating a more textured musical landscape.

Riffin': Who are your musical influences?

Billie Myers: Chrissie Hyndes, Janis Joplin, Sinead O' Connor and Annie Lennox are at the top of my list because they all convey amazing emotion in what they sing, and, as a listener, you really believe them. When I write my songs, I have to make sure not to be too self-indulgent in my lyrics so that I can make sure people listening to my songs can relate.

Riffin': Where do you see the future of music going?

Billie Myers: Right now there is a major state of upheaval. As artists, we must not rely so much on production, but really start to step up to the plate and focus on performance to engage with our audience.

Riffin':How has the on-line world changed music?

Billie Myers: Well, first off, people need to stop pirating music. They don't realize that it really just hurts the artists. If it costs $50,000 to produce an album, and the record company doesn't make that back in sales, then they won't do another album with that artist. On the other hand, the Internet is amazing because it can really open the door for exposure to new bands and artists
